Clinical Studies Related To Joint Issues

Joint Pain

Joint pain and disease affects more than one in four adults in the United States.

We conducted a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial to investigate the efficacy of a hydrolyzed chicken collagen type II (HCII) supplement in reducing joint-related discomfort such as pain and stiffness, and in improving mobility.

We enrolled adults aged 40–65 (65.5% were women) who had joint discomfort, but had no co-morbidities, and who were not taking pain medications.

Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis (OA), the most common joint disease affecting humans and animals, is a painful, degenerative, and inflammatory disease that affects synovial joints and ultimately leads to loss of mobility.

Non-pharmacological preventive approaches, several pharmaceutical therapeutic agents, and some medicines may reduce the progression of OA in animals.

Many clinical and experimental studies have revealed that the undenatured form of type II collagen (UC-II) offers common health benefits to patients with OA.

Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a chronic and asymptomatic disease characterized by low bone mass and skeletal grmicroarchitectural deterioration, increased risk of fracture and associated co-morbidities most prevalent in the elderly.

A growing body of evidence demonstrates that Hydrolyzed Collagen’s bio active properties beneficial for bone tissue, including stimulation of bone forming cells, improvement of calcium absorption, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant capacities.
Those properties render HC a new and innovative candidate for putative dietary intervention in the prevention of osteoporosis.

Rheumatoid arthritis

Chicken type II collagen (CCII) is a protein extracted from the cartilage of chicken breast and exhibits intriguing possibilities for the treatment of autoimmune diseases by inducing oral tolerance.

A 24-week, double-blind, double-dummy, randomized, methotrexate (MTX)-controlled study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and safety of CCII in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Bone Impairment

Ageing-related bone impairment due to exposure to hyperglycemic environment is scarcely researched.

The aim was to confirm the improvement effects of Native Collagen II on bone impairment in ageing db/db mice, and the ageing model was established by normal feeding for 48-week-old.
